EL1 - Assistant Director, Data Governance and Strategy - EOI

Reporting to the Director, Data Governance and Management, The Assistant Director will oversee the implementation of the National Library’s first Data Strategy, including but not limited to data governance, data management and data sharing streams. The Assistant Director also leads engagement with the Office of the National Data Commissioner (ONDC) on its Data Inventory Pilot Program and is responsible for developing and implementing a range of policies related to data stewardship and management, particularly in relation to the personal information the Library collects while fulfilling its mandate. Finally, the Assistant Director will play an important role in capturing data governance requirements emerging from the development of an enterprise-level cloud data warehouse.
Skills and capability we need:
We are seeking individuals with the following skills and capabilities:
- understanding of the basic principles of data governance and data management
- strong liaison and relationship skills, including the ability to advocate for good data management practice
- ability to guide and mentor junior staff
- previous experience in data policy development, business analysis and/or IT project management will be highly regarded.
