Wairau Hospital and Marlborough Community
Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand (Nelson
Marlborough) formerly NMDHB
  • Are you looking for a change of career
direction and interested in a role in health? * Are you looking for a health role for a gap year or permanently? * Are you an experienced healthcare
assistant looking to explore nursing/midwifery/social work options? * Permanent full-time,
part-time, fixed-term and casual options available. We are delighted to announce that we
are now taking applications for the Marlborough Health and Wellbeing
Apprenticeship Programme for people interested in joining the Healthcare
sector, either now or later in the year.
Earn, learn and decide what direction
you want to go, whether it's studying nursing, midwifery or social work, or medicine, or any allied health profession at a tertiary provider. We currently have apprenticeship vacancies to become
a fully qualified Healthcare Assistant based in various
departments both in the hospital (e.g. ED, Paediatrics, Inpatients
(AT&R/Medical/Surgical) or in the community (e.g. District Nursing, Mental
Health, Aged Care).
All roles are focused on learning how
to support nurses working in these busy areas. You will experience all
aspects of healthcare, from learning about health monitoring (e.g. helping with
patient cares, patient watches, taking blood pressures), through to helping
patients in their daily lives and keeping things running smoothly (e.g. stock
control, cleaning equipment, tidying).
Each month
you will learn a new range of skills. You will have both formal training (e.g.
Health and Wellbeing qualifications), plus on-the job learning.

This role will appeal to people with experience who want to get into formal
training, or those with no experience but an interest in healthcare. All
we ask is enthusiasm and a desire to learn about one of New Zealand - s fastest
growing sectors. As part of the apprenticeship programme you
will be required to enrol in an appropriate health care qualification, for
example NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 3. Successful completion of the
qualification gained can be used as a stepping stone to tertiary education if
desired e.g. nursing, midwifery, social work.
The full-time equivalent salary range for a healthcare assistant is $51,770 to $61,540 based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA, dependent on skills, experience & relevant qualifications.
Te Whatu Ora staff are required to have completed their primary course of two NZ approved COVID-19 vaccinations.
Apply now, it - s easy. Please fill in our online
application form and include a brief cover letter explaining your interest in
this apprenticeship programme.
