Description/Job Summary
SUMMARY OF POSITION: Supervise a group of up to 5 employees responsible for the maintenance and repair of equipment used in the manufacturing of polyethylene blown film, flexographic printing, and out of line bag making. On a daily basis, must be able to effectively communicate (orally and written) with employees and other departmental personnel. Key accountabilities of position include managing safety, equipment, cost, and regulations.
Responsibilities/Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Observe all safety precautions and regulations. Be proactive in addressing safety issues and concerns.
- Responsible for reporting all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions.
- Understand and comply with all current plant policies and procedures.
- Must be able to make decisions in an independent mode, if necessary.
- Responsible for managing the payroll, hours, and scheduling of maintenance employees for both locations (Brokerage and Central).
- Experienced in mechanical and electrical design and engineering, and drawing.
- Must be able to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues and processes.
- Responsible for safety and regulatory training and compliance.
- Responsible for monthly reporting of maintenance hours, spending, etc. for monthly financial packet.
- Schedule Preventive Maintenance, and shutdowns for switch gears and Infrared testing.
- Must be able to negotiate with contractors and vendors.
- Responsible for delegating maintenance and work order priorities.
- Escorts auditors for regulatory compliance and insurance audits.
- Responsible for submitting input to monthly activity report and all other requested reports.
- Conducts monthly/quarterly/annual self audits for regulatory and corporate requirements.
- Fills in as purchasing/receiving as needed.
- Maintains day to day operations of manufacturing.

- Must be willing to work off-shifts, overtime and weekends as necessary for business needs.
- Willingness to travel since some travel may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to perform work efficiently and effectively under short notice.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds of various sizes and shapes.
- Must be capable of standing or walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be capable of pulling and pushing a loaded cart with up to 50 pounds of force.
- Must be able to climb on ladders or other authorized equipment for cleaning.
- Forklift experience preferred.
Required Skills
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
Minimum of Associate degree in Engineering and 5 years' experience, or 10+ years' experience as Plant Engineer.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Candidates must be willing to travel.
Skills/Competencies: Excellent verbal/written skills, organized and able to multi-task.
Other Skills: Must be able to speak, read and write the English language, Bilingual Spanish a plus but not required.
Preferred Skills
Must have office organizational skills in order to review, request and verify the purchase of items needed for the department.
Strong leadership skills and vast experience managing a team of various background.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
A. Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
B. Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
C. Stooping, bending the body downward and forward by bending spine and waist.
Example: Changing paper in printer, copier machine.
